Yuma, Arizona Latest City to Cry for Help With Illegals
Due to space constraints, Federal immigration authorities have been releasing illegals into the cities of America. Shockingly, the cities can’t handle all those people. Just as we reported for Las Cruces, New Mexico, authorities in Yuma, Arizona has declared state of emergency over the people being dumped off there. NOW do they get it? Perhaps they should talk to Democrats.
Thousands upon thousands of migrants come through our borders daily. There is no place to put them. The holding facilities were not designed for family units. Space is limited, so the border authorities have no choice but to place them somewhere. The shelters are full. The churches are full. And they’re even moving the illegals around to different places, and it’s still too many people for any city to deal with.
The City of Yuma stated:
Mayor Nicholls proclaimed a local emergency to urge for federal assistance, as more migrant family units continue to be released into a shelter system already at capacity and maxed on resources and volunteers. The shelter system has a maximum capacity of 150-200 people, and it exceeded capacity today.
“Migrants continue to be released at a rate that cannot be sustained, overwhelming the current non-profit shelter system,” Mayor Nicholls said. He explained it needs to be clear at the national level that Yuma cannot sustain this humanitarian crisis. The proclamation was signed in attempt to avert hundreds of asylum-seeking migrants from being left without resources and potentially out in the greater community.
Mayor Nicholls explained migrant families released to the shelter are waiting to be transported to cities throughout the nation; they are not staying in the Yuma community.
Democrats may be slowly coming to the realization that they’ve been off in left field. Even some die-hard leftists are starting to sound like, oh, maybe that wouldn’t be safe to throw them all in our communities. Cory Booker told reporters that the plan to drop migrants off in sanctuary cities would “make us all less safe.” No kidding. But some of them, including Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, have even called for Democrats to secure the border. So hope springs eternal. Maybe if enough crises continue, they’ll get the message.
