YouTube Shooter — Angry Vegan Animal Rights Activist
San Bruno, California – Nasim Najafi Aghdam, 39, of San Diego, Calif walked up to the patio where YouTube employees were having lunch and opened fire. She was angry at YouTube for demonetizing her videos, according to Fox News. Though yesterday police believed the shooting was domestic related, they soon learned otherwise. There was no evidence that she actually knew any of the shooting victims. We previously reported the shooting here.
Aghdam drove several hundred miles to get to the Silican Valley YouTube Headquarters. Her family had reported her missing, but Mountain View police located her the morning of the shooting as she was sleeping in her car, so the missing report was cancelled. Buzzfeed reported that her father claimed that he had informed authoities she might be going to YouTube because she was angry. It is unclear where she obtained the gun in a state that rigidly controls firearms.

She was a self-described “vegan”, “bodybuilder” and animal rights activist. She had demonstrated at the Marine Base at Camp Pendleton against the military’s use of pigs for training in 2009, according to the Telegraph. But YouTube removed some of her videos, and demonetized the others.
“A message on her YouTube accounts said the pages were removed due to “multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy against spam, deceptive practices, and misleading content or other Term of Service violations.” The Telegraph”
They also age-restricted her exercise videos while leaving up Miley Cyrus ones, which infuriated Nasim. Age-restricted videos are not eligible for monetization.
