White Settlement Church Shooting, 2 Dead, 1 Critical

 In Domestic

White Settlement, Texas – At around 9:57 Sunday morning during communion at the West Freeway Church of Christ, a gunman walked up to a server and opened fire. One person died at the scene, one died on the way to the hospital, and one is in critical condition. Church members took the shooter down. One witness stated that the suspect was among those who were killed.

“Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life,” the governor said in a statement. “Cecilia and I ask all Texans to join us in praying for the White Settlement community and for all those affected by this horrible tragedy.”  Texas Governor Greg Abbott (Fox)

The church service was being live-streamed at the time of the incident.

According to WFAA, in the video a person can be seen standing up and pulling out either a rifle or a shotgun and seems to fire twice.

Another person then shoots back. While this is happening, people ducked under church pews while others rushed towards the shooter with handguns.

Authorities have not released any details about what led to the shooting.

White Settlement police have not responded to an AP request for comment. In an interview with Dallas TV station KTVT, Mike Drivdahl, the spokesman for the Fort Worth Fire Department, said he believes the gunman was among the three who were shot.

White Settlement is about 12km west of Fort Worth.

MedStar also informed Fox News that the shooter was among the dead.

The motive is unknown at this time, but the outcome is definite: this is Texas, and it is believed that more than one church member fired at the suspect. They took out the threat before the threat became a massacre.

    God Bless them all.
Maybe the Gov. of VA would learn a little by following Gov. Abbott’s lead.
