Weymouth, MA Officer Hit With Rock, Murdered With Own Gun
A Weymouth, Massachusetts Police officer, Michael Chesna, engaged a suspect who hit him in the head with a rock, then took his gun and shot him several times in the head and chest. A retired woman was also struck by a stray bullet and killed while she was in her own house.
The incident began when a report of an erratic driver began a police chase. Suspect Emanuel Lopes crashed his car and fled on foot. Officer Chesna came upon him as he was attempting to vandalize a residence and shouted for him to stop. Lopes reportedly grabbed a rock and struck Chesna in the head, then took his gun and shot him in the head and chest.

Police returned fire, hitting Lopes in the leg and knee. Lopes again tried to flee and shot the gun three more times during the chase – at that time, an older woman was fatally struck by a stray bullet that came through her sun room window.
