Virginia Republicans: Where Were You On November 5?
On November 5th, Virginia elected a man who was once jailed for sex with a minor, or rather I should say Democrats elected one. But the problem isn’t so much with who the Democrats elect as it is with the sad state of the Virginia Republicans. The election on Tuesday only had 40% of the electorate voting. Were they really outspent, or just lazy? As one writer put it, “money doesn’t vote, people do.”
Virginia elected trouble
Joe Morrissey spent six months in jail for having sex with his underage secretary in 2015. In Tuesday’s election, he won by 64% of the vote. He was disbarred and his attorney’s license revoked. Now he’s a state Senator.
The Daily Wire reported,
Morrissey, now 61, was in his 50’s when he was accused of having sex with his 17-year-old secretary, to whom he is now married. He claimed he did nothing wrong, but pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in 2015 while admitting there was enough evidence to convict him. (This often happens to innocent and guilty defendants alike, they plead to a lesser crime to avoid worse consequences in front of a jury for a larger crime.) The girl and her mother also denied anything untoward was happening between the two, though he was initially indicted on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography (he had, according to prosecutors, a nude photograph of the girl and had sent it to a friend) and the electronic solicitation of a minor.
Virginia Democrats elected convicted sex offender Joe Morrissey to the state Senate.

It’s not like the Republicans didn’t know about that little episode, it’s public record. The GOP didn’t even bother to put a candidate on the ballot to oppose Morrissey. He ran against one Independent and zilch from the Republicans.
Next year, the Democrats are set to aggressively push through radical gun control bills in Virginia, as we have previously reported.
Dave Workman at Conservative Firing Line wrote,
“Virginia saw a turnout of “nearly 40 percent of voters statewide,” according to the Virginia Public Access Project.
In an “off” year that’s good, according to Andrew Cain, state politics editor at the Richmond Post-Dispatch, who chatted via telephone. That was actually up from 29 percent in 2015.
But how many of the 60 percent who stayed home are Old Dominion gun owners? How many of them will now be singing the blues when anti-gun Gov. Ralph Northam, backed by a Democrat-controlled legislature, starts what could be a gun control juggernaut in January?”
It was no secret that the Governor wanted to take on the gun control agenda. Republicans KNEW it.
If Republicans – especially gun owners- across the nation follow this example, we can kiss our freedoms goodbye. EVERYONE absolutely MUST start standing as a unified group in order to win in 2020. And don’t give us the old BS about not having a good candidate to run- you haven’t looked hard enough if you think that.
Democrats canvas their districts for voter registration. Their “get-out-the-vote” grassroots drives are effective to make sure their lefty buddies go to the polls. They even cheat, as we saw in the last several elections. Republicans know they do those things, and yet in Virginia, it appears they didn’t bother to go vote. Stop licking your GOP wounds, and FIGHT BACK!
