UN Global Migration Compact -Trump Administration Opts Out
On December 2, the United States issued a statement that ends our participation in the Global Migration Compact. It means that WE choose whom we bring into the United States, and how many…not the United Nations. Barack Obama signed on to the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants in 2016. Trump just ‘unsigned’ us. Trump is preserving our sovereignty.
The December 2 statement reads,
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Today, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations informed the UN Secretary-General that the United States is ending its participation in the Global Compact on Migration.
U.S. participation in the Compact process began in 2016, following the Obama Administration’s decision to join the UN’s New York Declaration on migration. The New York Declaration contains numerous provisions that are inconsistent with U.S. immigration and refugee policies and the Trump Administration’s immigration principles. As a result, President Trump determined that the United States would end its participation in the Compact process that aims to reach international consensus at the UN in 2018.
Ambassador Nikki Haley, U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, issued the following statement:
“America is proud of our immigrant heritage and our long-standing moral leadership in providing support to migrant and refugee populations across the globe. No country has done more than the United States, and our generosity will continue. But our decisions on immigration policies must always be made by Americans and Americans alone. We will decide how best to control our borders and who will be allowed to enter our country. The global approach in the New York Declaration is simply not compatible with U.S. sovereignty.”
Allowing the United Nations to tell us how many immigrants and refugees to receive was never a good idea. The pressure literally deleted our sovereign ability to choose who comes here. Instead, we were forced by virtue of the New York Declaration compact to take a certain amount of refugees from nations that had large terrorist populations.
It was a violation of the Consitution in Article 4, Section 4 (not that Obama ever cared about that) because it surrendered US sovereignty to a foreien entity.
According to the New American, “Americans have no way to consent to the resolutions debated and adopted by the United Nations, particularly not one which would force sanctions upon this country for “racism and xenophobia,” two misdeeds named in the New York Declaration, but conveniently not defined.”
Obama and his administration lefties worked overtime in 8 years to destroy US sovereignty. They placed us in such horrific agreements as the Paris Climate Accords, the TransPacific Trade Agreement, and the New York Declaration on Migration. All of those things dictated the way the United States conducted our business, and imposed sanctions for not following the UN agenda. Thanks to our President Donald J Trump for removing us from them.
