UK Tanker Seized by Iran in Strait of Hormuz- Is This War?

 In Foreign

The UK Tanker Stena Impero has reportedly been seized by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz (Fox). It has a crew of 23, and the owners of the vessel have not been able to contact it, as tracking indicates it is sailing toward Iran after being accosted by several smaller vessels and a helicopter. Add to that another UK tanker, the Liberian MV Mesdar, also British owned, has come up missing as well and appears to be headed toward Iran, according to maritime tracking.

Tasnim, an Iranian media owned by the IRGC said: “We received some reports on the British oil tanker, Stena Impero, causing problems. We asked the military forces to guide this tanker towards Bandar Abbas port to have the required investigations carried out.”

“Causing problems” – Iran is causing problems that could lead to war. The Stena Impero was on its way to Saudi Arabia and in international waters, when it was seized at around 1600 BST (British Summer Time Zone) on Friday (UK Defence Journal). That the IRGC has seized TWO British flagged oil /chemical tankers in one day is extreme. This comes after admitting that they seized another “foreign tanker” a few days ago.

The seizing of the UK tankers has set oil prices climbing in Britain. The Ministry of Defense emergency group called “Cobra” has been summoned to a meeting on the attacks.

They’ve stepped in a hornet’s nest now.

A shout out to Faye Higbee for writing some great articles.

I’d like to see her address the piss poor shape the the United Kingdom is in with Teresa May stepping down and a new PM going to be taking over ~ next week or so. Brexit is the least of the U.K’s worries right now and the new PM is going to have to hit the ground running.
