Two Buffalo Police Officers Push 75 Yr Old Activist to the Ground, Get Suspended, 57 Members of the Emergency Team Resign

 In Domestic

New York – Two Buffalo police officers pushed a 75 yr old man to the ground where he struck his head and lay in a pool of blood. The two officers involved in the incident have been suspended without pay, and an internal investigation is being conducted. But as the two officers were suspended, all 57 members of the Emergency Response team resigned from that team in solidarity.

They did not resign from the Buffalo police department, they resigned from the emergency response team.

What’s the rest of the story? There is always more than a video shows. That man’s name is Martin Gugino, and he is widely known in the city as an activist, reportedly a “peaceful protester.” From the video it appeared that instead of moving back as the officers requested, he got in their face to argue, and was pointing at them, even using his phone to wave in their faces. Someone yells to “push him back!”

Then an officer shoved him backwards, he lost his balance and fell on the cement, hitting his head. There he lay in a pool of blood. The Buffalo Police officer who shoved him appears to want to reach down to help him, but another officer grabbed him and pulled him back and the officers continued their march to whereever they were headed.

In the background you can hear someone tell the officers to call an ambulance. Ultimately, the man was transported to a hospital, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

The Mayor of Buffalo called the incident “disappointing.” Governor Cuomo called it “utterly disgusting.” The Police commissioner called it “disheartening.”

The man was shoved shortly after a curfew went into effect, which is likely where they column of police was headed.

The following video is 8 minutes long from Fox News. It’s an interview with Bernard Kerik, who served in the US Army, is a former police officer, consultant, and commissioner of the New York Police Department. He expresses no sympathy for Mr Gugino in the video, so be forewarned.
