Tulsa Mayor Imposes Curfew Zone for Trump Rally to Prevent Violence

 In Politics

Tulsa Mayor G. T. Bynum, a Republican, declared a “civil emergency” in a six block radius around the Trump Rally venue  set for Saturday, June 20. Word was received that radical leftist groups were coming into the city to disrupt the rally. A curfew was instituted starting June 18, and going until June 20, then starts up again right after the rally. Are busloads of bad guys on the way?

UPDATE: the Oklahoma Supreme Court has allowed the Trump Rally to proceed without the requirement to wear masks. The Tulsa Mayor has lifted the curfew for tonight and tomorrow, allowing those in line to be ready to enter the venue.

“I have received information from the Tulsa Police Department and other law enforcement agencies that shows that individuals from organized groups who have been involved in destructive and violent behavior in other States are planning to travel to the city of Tulsa for purposes of causing unrest in and around the rally.” Mayor G.T. Byrum

The Executive Order 2020-11 locks off vehicles and pedestrians from a six block radius around the BOK Center venue from 10:00 p.m. on the 18th to 6:00 a.m. Saturday. After the Rally, the curfew continues until June 21 at 6:00 a.m.

In accordance with Tulsa Mayor Byrum’s emergency order, Tulsa Police posted:

We understand that many people are unaware that a curfew will be in place and barricades are still in the process of being setup. If we find anyone in violation of the Executive Order this evening, we will request that they leave the area based on the curfew.

If people refuse to leave the area, they may be cited or arrested. This is an unprecedented event for the City of Tulsa and has hundreds of moving parts, we are asking for everyone’s help in making this a safe event for all citizens…

…Map of the area around the BOK center for President Trump’s Rally. Expect to see fencing and barricades being erected this evening, 6-19-20 10:00 am NO vehicles allowed in this area 6-19-20 3:00 pm restricted pedestrian traffic…

There is a smaller area near the BOK that will be completely off limits to pedestrian traffic unless you have a ticket for admittance. People who live in the area and outside of the RSVP area will be allowed to move about by foot up to and during the event.”

More than 1,000,000 people registered for the Trump Rally, but the venue can only hold 20,000.  Campaign Manager Brad Parscale told Fox that the campaign was looking for a second venue so that more people could attend. Entrance is on a first come, first serve basis, and Trump supporters have been lining up days ahead of time. It’s unclear if they will be able to continue the line up in view of the curfew.

As far as the Coronavirus goes, masks and temperature checks will be in force (Fox). Or not, depending who you talk to, but if thousands of chanting protesters and loathsome rioters can get together, President Trump has the right to have a rally.

Of course, the leftists would want to disrupt it. It’s what they do – disrupt and destroy.

We were told that a MILLION people had pre-registered and would be in line to try to get in. …and, WE WERE TOLD THAT YOU HAD HAVE HAD PRE-ORDERED FORMS, SIGNED WAIVERS, AND RETURNED TO THE RALLY ORGANIZERS.

We were told that MORE PEOPLE THAN THE CAPACITY OF THE BUILDING had been camped for 3 days to try to get in.

We were told that violent protestors walled the outside of the building.

There were MANY THOUSANDS all across Oklahoma that would have LOVED to attend.

We were told they would not be able to do so.

We watched it on TV (Had to use CSPAN because FOX had a steady stream of anti-Trumpers talking over the first parts of the convention).

There was NOTHING in the Trump talks that made anybody (who was in favor of Trump) walk out.
