Trump Won’t Pursue Charges Against Hillary…but others might

 In opinion, Politics

Word has it from aide Kellyanne Conway that Trump will likely not pursue charges against Hillary Clinton after all. But please read that carefully: he’s not interested in pursuing charges. He’s got more important things to worry about. But the new DOJ might have other plans.

Fox news reported,

“In an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Conway said that while Clinton “has to face the fact that a majority of Americans don’t find her to be honest and trustworthy,” it would be a good thing if Trump can “help her heal.”

“I think when the President-elect, who’s also the head of your party…tells you before he’s even inaugurated  he doesn’t wish to pursue these charges, it sends a very strong message, tone, and content,” she said.

The move is a significant break from Trump’s campaign rhetoric, which included a warning that if he were president he’d get his attorney general to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate her behavior. In the second presidential debate he quipped to Clinton that if he was president: “you’d be in jail.”

Cries of “lock her up” were a common feature at Trump’s campaign rallies.”

For those disappointed Deplorables, and “told you so” liberals, here’s the truth:

Wait and See

First, the President doesn’t decide whether to prosecute people, the Department of Justice does.  Those of us who want desperately to see Hillary in the slammer can take heart by the fact that the Justice Department under a Trump administration will be an entirely different ballgame. Especially with Jeff Sessions as the Attorney General.

They haven’t stopped their investigation of the Clinton Foundation, which may yield the “motherlode” of corruption issues.

Second, Donald Trump has more important things to worry about – like learning about being a President. He isn’t interested in revenge, he’s got to pursue knowledge at this point. He’s been meeting with a plethora of people who are qualified for jobs in his cabinet. He has to make important decisions right now and Hillary going to prison is not at the top of his list.

So let’s not throw those “Hillary for Gitmo” t-shirts away just yet.
