Trump Fires SecDef Mark Esper, Appoints Christopher Miller as SecDef

 In Military, opinion, Politics

On November 9, 2020, President Trump fired SecDef Mark Esper. Although it was rumored that Esper had already prepared a letter of resignation 4 days ago, the Pentagon said that wasn’t true. But the move has been expected for some time. In spite of that fact, the left is going nuts over Esper’s “unceremoniuous removal.”

SecDef Mark Esper and the cadre of Never-Trumpers

Breitbart reported:

The relationship between Trump and Esper soured quickly after Esper preempted the president by declaring he did not support using active-duty forces to restore peace during a summer of violent riots.

Trump had not called for using troops, but had warned he might if the violence continued. However, Esper’s preemptive declaration made it more difficult for the president to use the threat of deployment of troops as a deterrent to rioters…

…During Trump’s tenure, the Pentagon had become a home for many Never Trumpers who took positions there and resisted the president’s positions, such as the drawdown of U.S. troops from Afghanistan and the Middle East, wanting allies to pay more for the presence of U.S. troops in their countries, and wanting to draw down forces from the African continent, among many other policies.

Democrats are screaming that the removal of Esper is a “national security risk.” Whichis ridiculous, given the person that Trump asked to replace Esper is head first in national security from the counterterrorism field.

Gee, where were they when Biden, Hillary, Susan Rice, et al did their risking of our national security? Crickets.

Instead of working with the President to help him understand his position, Esper came out against it publicly…which is not something that this President likes.

Succeeding SecDef Mark Esper will be Christopher C. Miller.

His DoD bio states in part:

Mr. Miller was raised in Iowa City, Iowa and is a retired U.S. Army officer. He was commissioned as an Infantry officer in 1987 through R.O.T.C. with a Bachelor of Arts in History from the George Washington University. Mr. Miller began his military career as an enlisted Infantryman in the Army Reserve in 1983 and also served in the District of Columbia National Guard as a Military Policeman. In 1993, he transferred to Special Forces and served in numerous command and staff positions within the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

Throughout his career, he served within other special operations organizations, culminating with command of the 2nd Battalion, 5th SFG(A). Mr. Miller participated in the initial combat operations in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, in addition to numerous follow-on deployments to both theaters, and has extensive inter-agency and joint special operations experience. Upon retirement from the Army in 2014, Mr. Miller worked for over two years as a defense contractor providing clandestine Special Operations and Intelligence expertise directly to the Under Secretaries of Defense for Intelligence and Policy.

Miller’s tenure may be short, depending upon the outcome of the election. Biden is allegedly looking to nominate a woman for the SecDef position: Michèle Flournoy.

What a leader to use Twitter to fire somebody. Like a girlfriend who just doesn’t have courage to actually do in private or person. Real Marine right? Trump is such a man or AMERICAN to represent the Marines… not to mention it comes after its being reported he lost the election. Me Trump… me Man… me have military power to show me MAN… he isn’t a REPUBLICAN, he doesn’t care about Americans. He cares about Trump. And the Trump name. At least choose to back somebody who actually fights for Republican rights instead of just selfish bullshit.
