Tommy Robinson Freed From UK Prison
Between news media calling Tommy Robinson a “far-right activist,” or “anti-Muslim bigot” and the left calling him a nazi, you might never remember that he had been imprisoned within 5 hours for filming outside the trial of a Muslim grooming gang in May. He appealed the kangaroo court sentence. The Lord Chief Justice agreed that his arrest-to-13 month sentence was improper. So he overturned the conviction, and ordered a new trial. Robinson’s real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.
“It was unclear what conduct was said to comprise a breach of that order and the appellant was sentenced on the basis of conduct which fell outside the scope of that order. The decision at Leeds crown court to proceed to committal to prison so promptly and without due regard for [part] of the rules gave rise to unfairness…The judge might have referred the matter to the attorney general to consider whether to institute proceedings. That course would have avoided the risk of sacrificing fairness on the altar of celerity.” Lord Chief Justice Lord Burnett
One of the most interesting moments of Robinson’s release came when the media bombarded him with questions. Since the British media has treated him about like our media treats President Trump, he said, “All the British media do is lie. I have a lot to say but nothing to you. I want to thank the British public for all their support.”
We wrote about the original situation here:
Regardless of whether you love him or hate him, arresting him and throwing him in prison within a span of 5 hours was ludicrous.
He now will have to appear for a retrial when the court sets a specific date. He also is banned from going within 1,312 feet (400 meters) of the Leeds Court.
Robinson is well hated by the pro-Muslim factions in the UK. Accusations that the guards at HMP Onley left his cell open at the risk of his life, and “starved” him are unconfirmed.
Tommy Robinson was arrested in the UK for reporting on an islamic sex scandal outisde the courthouse in May. Just reporting on the case got him 13 months. Thousands rallied behind him calling for his release from his unjust sentence. He was released today. Watch this amazing vid pic.twitter.com/IE0IGmCApz

So we now know, irrefutably, from the Lord Chief Justice himself, that Tommy Robinson was improperly tried, improperly convicted, improperly sentenced and improperly treated in prison. Every single element of his treatment was illegal. Everything. He was a political prisoner.

I didn’t agree with all of Tommy Robinson’s words or stands, but I’m thrilled that judges saw fit to question the initial ruling against him, releasing him from prison for now. Talk about a rush to judgment the first time around!
