After Theft, Marine Widow Surprised by Marines Who Replaced Her Flags
Barberton, Ohio, first reported by Fox8 – Naomi Litton is a Marine widow. She was married to a proud Marine Korean War veteran named Edward Litton (aka “Red”). She loved looking out her window everyday to see the Marine and American flags flying on her flag pole because they reminded her of her husband. But early last week she looked out her window and found that someone had ripped them down and stolen them.
“I think I went into shock. My goodness the flags are gone…I was devastated and I think I shed a few tears of course I was thinking about my husband.” Naomi
Naomi and Ed had been married for 62 years. He would have been 86 this year.
One of her neighbors posted on Facebook what happened, and two Marines who saw the post decided to help. They made it their mission to replace the flags.
“Once a Marine always a Marine and the Marines stick together no matter what.” Arthur Kennedy
So Scott Cole and Arthur Kennedy set out to surprise Naomi with new flags. Scott told Fox8, “It doesn’t matter what color, creed, age, the Marine will be there.”
It’s a gesture the Litton family say they will not forget.
“These guys took time out of their day to do that it’s phenomenal and I’m so proud,” said a tearful Carol Bailey, Litton’s daughter. “I’m so proud of my dad, all of our life but now this, he would be proud.”…
…Now, thanks to the kindness of fellow Marines, Litton can once again look out her window and be reminded of her husband.
“I can’t thank them enough, there’s no words to thank them,” said Bailey. “What wonderful men, Semper Fi, Marine, Semper Fi.”
Men who take Semper Fidelis to heart…refreshing to see them help out a Marine widow who was victim of a theft.
