The ISIS Theme Parks for Kids (No that’s not a joke)
Sometimes you just have to shake your head when a news story comes along that is so bizarre as to be nearly unbelievable. But this one is true: The Islamic State has opened two theme parks for children’s “entertainment” in Raqqa, Syria and in Fallujah, Iraq. Allowing the children to play in them might be somewhat nerve-wracking, however, as some of the equipment looks a little rusty…

In a series of photos, young revellers appear to enjoying a series of rides – including spinning teacups, a big wheel and a miniature train line.
But their supposed enjoyment is a contrast to the bombed out scene in the background – which acts as a startling reminder of their horrific reality.
In Raqqa’s ‘Ride City’, children were seen to enjoy rides on a dangerous looking rusty swing – and an unseen bouncy castle.
The photos are just the latest in a series released by the terror group’s media wing – which is known for releasing slick, produced videos and photographs of the group’s brutal day to day actions.
Does ISIS just want to look human?
So if the kids fall off a merry-go-round, do they get beheaded? Or if one of those rusty chains breaks on that swing, will their body be found in a trash pile somewhere? And what about that blond girl in the picture? Are they trying to appear more human by letting an obviously non-Muslim child ride their swing set? (At least until they’re out of the camera range).
The ruthless Islamic State may be trying to make themselves look more “human” but in reality it’s a question of the way they really operate as opposed to the “appearance.” Propaganda is propaganda, any way you look at it.
