A Thai soldier went on a shooting spree in the city of Korat, also known as Nakhon Ratchasima on Saturday. Thus far, the death toll is at 20, with at least 31 more injured.

Update: the suspect was shot dead at the mall. Final death toll: 26, with 57 wounded.

Sergeant Major Jakrapanth Thomma, 32, first executed his superior officer along with two others, commandeered a Humvee, then went on an indiscriminate shooting spree, according to Daily Mail. was livestreaming the entire mass murder on Facebook. He stole weapons from the armory at the Thai Army base to use for his killing spree. He also set fire to a gas tank at the mall.

“Sgt. Jakrapanth Thomma was identified by Defense Ministry spokesman Lt. Gen. Kongcheep Tantrawanich as the shooter responsible for the deaths of several people including one military official at the Suatham Phithak military camp where the rampage began.” Fox

The “Terminal 21” shopping center was the large mall where Thomma went on the rampage.

Reportedly, a doctor was shot who was tending to a wounded person.

Police and military descended on the mall to rescue the shoppers inside. Videos from the incident on Twitter showed panicked evacuees fleeing the mall. Police were concerned that the suspect could hide among the shoppers.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul called for blood donations for four local hospitals as the number of injured grew.

As police secured the mall, no information was released on whether the suspect was found during the search. But after the Thai commandos “cleared” the center, the suspect may have escaped.

Facebook removed the soldier’s livestream posts and deleted his account. Some of his posts stated, “No one can escape death,” “Should I give up?” and “I have stopped already.”

The motive is unclear, but may have involved a land dispute. It was also unclear whether Thomma took hostages or how many there might be.

But…mass shootings only happen in the US, according to the left. This situation in Thailand provoked media to discuss more rigid gun control – which would have done nothing to help the Thai military or the legal gun owners in Thailand.
