Terror Attack on Brussels Soldiers
A man wielding a machete and shouting “allahu akbar” attacked Brussels soldiers in Belgium on Friday. He was shot dead. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.
As the man rushed a group of soldiers in front of the Grand Palace in Brussels, he stabbed one and the others opened fire. Though he was taken to the hospital, he died.
The Brussels prosecutor stated that the man was a 30 year old Somali who came to Belgium in 2004 and became a citizen just two years ago. He reportedly had not been known for terrorist activities. The incident is being investigated as “attempted terrorist murder.”
ISIS media Amaq released this statement:
“The perpetrator of the stabbing operation in Brussels is one of the soldiers of the Islamic State, and he carried out the operation in response to appeals to target countries of the (US-led) coalition.”
