Still Winning! Kim Releases Three American Detainees Ahead of Summit

 In Foreign, Politics

Another historic moment occurred on Wednesday, as North Korea released three American Detainees to receive medical treatment in Pyongyang. They had been in labor camps for years. The regime has been monitoring their health closely, lest they go the way of Otto Warmbrier. But they are out of the camps, and reports say they are being held at a hotel in Pyongyang in preparation for the summit.

Though removed from the labor camps, they are still held in the North’s capital city now awaiting the summit between Trump and Kim. But what Obama could not accomplish, Trump has…the winning continues. Peace through strength? Absolutely!

“We heard it through our sources in North Korea late last month. We believe that Mr Trump can take them back on the day of the US-North Korea summit or he can send an envoy to take them back to the US before the summit.” Choi Sung-ryong

The three detainees are Kim Dong-cheol, Kim Sang-deok and Kim Hak-seong. Kim Dong-cheol is an American Pastor arrested in 2015 and sentenced in 2016 to 10 years hard labor for “espionage.” The other two were working for the University of Science and Technology in Pyonyang and were arrested for suspicion of “hostile acts”ย in 2017.

The Washington Times reported,

“National Security Adviser John R. Bolton had called for the release of the detainees, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reportedly raised the issue during secret face-to-face talks with Mr. Kim last month in Pyongyang.”

“If North Korea releases the detained Americans before the North-US summit, it will be an opportunity to demonstrate their authenticity.” John Bolton

Kim’s nuclear program went south after his mountain caved in on itself after the last big test and can never be used again. Add to that, extreme, heavy sanctions placed on the regime by the Trump administration and allies. Then there was Mike Pompeo’s secret meeting with Kim. We don’t know what was said, but we bet it was a doozy. Then there was the historic agreement to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

North and South Korea both took down their cold war era propaganda loudspeakers, according to the Associated Press on Tuesday, May 1st after a reconciliation agreement was made between the two Koreas.

Dealing with North Korea has been fraught with false starts by former Presidents. This President gets things done.

Twitter unleashed a torrent of excited Trump supporters.

Great they released recent detainees. What about the ones held prisoner from the war, those still living.
