South Carolina Mom Shoots Home Invader

 In 2nd Amendment

Anderson county, South Carolina – South Carolina Mom Ashley Jones was apprehensive about being a gun owner at first, but now she’s a believer. At around 6 a.m. on Thursday, she had to shoot a man who kicked in her front door. She’s the mother of three, and knew she had to protect them.

Never mess with a Mama bear and her cubs. It’s not healthy.

WSPA reported,

Jones’ home is in neighborhood with less than two dozen homes, so when she started hearing noises around 6 a.m. on the front porch of her home, she knew something wasn’t right.

Video footage showed a strange man and woman knocking and banging on her front door.

“He was like, ‘this is my house, let me in. I’m not going to hurt you’ kind of thing, and I was like ‘What do you want?'” Jones said. “After I called the police, I grabbed a gun and went to the top of the steps and was like, ‘I have a gun. I will shoot you. Do not come in my house.'”

With her three young children asleep in the rooms behind her, Jones said the man walked off and tried to get in the back door of the home by sliding the screen, but found the door was locked.

The man then went back to the front of the home and that’s where Jones said he made his move.

“Finally, he kicked the door in and tried walking towards the inside, and that’s when I shot him,” she said.

Her surveillance video captured the whole scene as the bullet hit the man’s shoulder. He then attempted to run off, but Jones said police arrived on-scene and took him into custody.

Ashley described how she felt as she was doing what she needed to do:

“Something just came over me, and I got calm. My heart slowed down and I got focused. I told myself if he comes in here, you can’t let him get past your doorstep. You have three young children to protect. Any mother is going to protect her kid any way she can. And that’s what I did.”

The man was taken to the hospital. Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride praised Jones for protecting her children.

Jones is glad she’s a gun owner now, after the stranger kicked in her door. The gun  was purchased just a few months prior. According to Blue Lives Matter, she trained with it and taught her children to stay away from it.

“If I didn’t have a weapon, I wouldn’t have been able to fight him off.” Ashley Jones
