Dr. Bello had a rifle under his white lab coat when he walked into the hospital at 2:50 p.m.. He was recently fired by the facility. One woman was shot in the abdomen and is deceased. He shot at least 5 others, three of whom are reportedly doctors. The deceased woman’s body was found near his.
The hospital went immediately into “lockdown.” Many were evacuated by police, but the doctors refused to leave and wanted to treat the victims.
Three of those victims are said to be in critical condition.
NYPD is leading the investigation, although there are a couple of FBI agents on scene according to Fox News.
Bronx-Lebanon Hospital is over 100 years old, and its emergency room is said to be the busiest in the city of New York. It is unclear why a family medical doctor would want to start shooting inside a hospital, even if he was fired. No information has been released as to why he was let go.
