Senate Democrats Once Again Obstruct Needed Funds: Sign the Petition to Block Their Paychecks!

 In Politics

On Thursday morning, Senate Democrats blocked a bill that would have added additional funds to the Paycheck Protection Program for small businesses. Funny how the Democrats fully supported the PPP previously. Is it time yet for Congress to get no paychecks until they wise up?

“We need more funding and we need it fast. I want to add more money to the only part of our bipartisan bill that could run out of money…
My colleagues must not treat working Americans like political hostages. We must not fail them. This does not have to be, nor should it be, contentious. Please do not block emergency aid you do not even oppose, just because you want something more.” Senator Mitch McConnell

Too late, they blocked it. Democrats wanted more funding for hospitals, state and local governments, as well as insisting on additional oversight-(read that control over small businesses) – add-ons which would have raised the cost of the measure to double what the GOP proposed. All of the items could have, should have been addressed in a separate bill.

Senate Democrats only offered $125 billion to protect the Paycheck Protection Program, with the rest being sent to other programs for a grand total of $500 billion.

Fox noted,

“I do not think people should play politics with the pandemic,” McCarthy told reporters, noting that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had been warning top congressional leaders that the government would run out of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) for small businesses affected by the coronavirus crisis.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., sought to pass the cash infusion swiftly Thursday by unanimous consent with a skeleton group of senators, as many are home and social distancing, but Democrats blocked the effort because they want add-ons to help businesses in disadvantaged communities and an additional $250 billion in funds for other priorities.

The extra funding is being sought amid concerns that the original $350 billion program to help businesses stay afloat during the coronavirus pandemic could run dry in the near future in the face of an enormous demand.

So once again, we have a partisan effort to push pork. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that the GOP measure wouldn’t pass the House either. So here we are. Stalemate again.

Unless we start showing these idiots that WE are their boss, they will continue to waste our time and our money. Please sign the petition at this link to block them all from getting a paycheck until they start working for us!
