SecDef Mattis Hints at Kinetic Weapons Against North Korea

 In opinion, Politics

SecDef  Mattis hinted that there were kinetic “options” that could be used against North Korea which wouldn’t destroy Seoul  in the response. And then President Trump made strong, non-politically correct statements at the UN that reminded folks that we could destroy the DPRK easily if they continue their pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Fire and Fury revisited

As the SecDef was reviewing US Nuclear capabilities at STRATCOM last week, North Korea fired off another missile over Japan. That missile could have reached the US Mainland. South Korea said it approached the United States with the possibility of returning tactical nuclear weapons to the peninsula when he visited last month.

Mattis confirmed the exchange with reporters at the Pentagon on Monday.

“We discussed the option. We have open dialogue with our allies on any issue they want to bring up.”SecDef  Mattis

When a reporter asked the Secretary: “Just to clarify, you said that there were possible military options that would not create a grave risk to Seoul. Are we talking kinetic options as well?” Mattis responded with a cryptic statement.

“Yes, I don’t want to go into that.” James Mattis

Uh,oh, sounds like Kimmy Baby may be in for it. Of course, he won’t listen because he thinks highly of himself and cares nothing for his own people.

Presidential reminder:

Then yesterday, the President stood before the United Nations and said this:

“No one has shown more contempt for other nations and for the well being of their own people than the depraved regime in North Korea.  It is responsible for the starvation deaths of millions of North Koreans, and for the imprisonment, torture, killing, and oppression of countless more.

We were all witness to the regime’s deadly abuse when an innocent American college student, Otto Warmbier, was returned to America only to die a few days later.  We saw it in the assassination of the dictator’s brother using banned nerve agents in an international airport.  We know it kidnapped a sweet 13-year-old Japanese girl from a beach in her own country to enslave her as a language tutor for North Korea’s spies…

…The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea. Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime. The United States is ready, willing and able, but hopefully this will not be necessary.  That’s what the United Nations is all about; that’s what the United Nations is for. Let’s see how they do.” President Trump to UN 9-19-2017

That about sums it up. Military options are on the table, but no one wants to use them unless forced to do so. “Rocket man” has a death wish.
