SecDef James Mattis Impromptu Remarks in Jordan

 In Military

SecDef James Mattis was “ambushed” by some deployed troops in Jordan on August 24 as he strolled through the base. They wanted to meet the ‘legend,’ and listen to what he had to tell them in an impromptu speech. His remarks were short, but coveted by his troops. The video was posted by US Army WTF Moments.

As the service members saw him, they formed a semicircle around him, waiting to hear what he had to say.  They weren’t about to let their “Mattis moment” escape.

“The only way this big experiment we call America is going to survive is if we have tough hombres like you. Some of you might be too young…but on 9-11 we were backed up against an enemy who thought if they hurt us they could scare us. But we don’t frickin’ scare, that’s the bottom line.”

He went on to tell the troops that “our country’s got some problems right now. You know it and I know it…Problems we don’t have in the military. Just hold the line, my fine young Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, until our country gets back to understanding and respecting each other and showing it of being friendly to one another, you know, that Americans owe to one another…We’re so doggone lucky to be Americans.” James Mattis

Mattis has come under fire for his off-the-cuff, epic remarks before. Recently, when he used the term “pussy” in remarks to sailors at Naval Base Kitsap in Washington state,  liberals threw a screaming fit. But he encourages his troops when he speaks to them, whether here in the states or overseas.

Some people don’t like our Secretary of Defense, but among the troops, that is a rare sentiment. He knows how to talk to them, how to encourage them, how to make them able and willing to walk into the face of the enemy for America. They know he’s on their side, and that he genuinely cares about them. Semper Fi, General,
