Professor Richard Painter Says Cops Should Knock on Your Door if You Buy too Many Guns

 In 2nd Amendment

On Tucker Carlson October 9, one of the guests was Richard Painter, professor of law at the University of Minnesota. As a gun control advocate and ethics lawyer, he claimed that a “law” could have prevented the Las Vegas massacre. His left wing views were akin to a babbling brook as Tucker tore into him. But we must remember that no matter what the left tries in the wake of Las Vegas, not everyone who owns a lot of guns uses them to massacre people. It’s the mindset of the person behind the gun.

“I don’t think anybody’s going to come up with a solution that’s going to eliminate all gun violence, but we have a lot of it and this keeps happening. At a minimum, we ought to (have) information on people like Mr. Paddock who are acquiring dozens of weapons over a very shot period of time. It amazes me that the police didn’t know that he was acquiring that many weapons over such a short period of time. That information ought to be available…”

It is available- in the ATF database for tracing firearms ownership. Does this guy want the ATF to go around tracking guns owned by people who have no record? Yep, that’s exactly what he wants. He advocates police knocking on your door if you “buy too many guns,” even if you haven’t done anything wrong. How many is too many?

“Law enforcement ought to know if someone has acquired dozens of weapons and they can use that information along with other information–for example, Is the person associating with known terrorists? Is the person associating with the Ku Klux Klan? Is the person someone who appears to be psychologically unsettled? They can use that information–along with other information–to check out the facts. And they do not need a law to go and pay you a visit in your house and say, ‘Hello, what’s up? What’s going on?'”

But what is “too many?” The professor said that was up to “law enforcement.”  Tucker told him it would be up to the people to vote on the law that set the number of guns. When he mentioned the “guy who shot up a gay bar” it became obvious that this attorney was sliding down that “slippery slope.”  Omar Mateen only had TWO guns. According to AWR Hawkins at Breitbart, he went from advocating police show up for “too many guns” down to just two.

You can listen to the argument between Mr. Painter and Tucker Carlson in the video from Fox News:

Quite often, firearms owners are their own worst enemies. The duck hunters don’t like the AR-15 “black rifles” so they see no problem if attempts are made to ban them. The traditional rifle owners don’t like machine guns, so they have no problem with them being legislated out of existence. Some pistol owners see nothing wrong with certain long guns being outlawed just as some rifle owners would have no problem seeing pistols banned.
Friends, ALL firearms advocates must “hang together” and realize that an assault on ANY means of firearms ownership and self-defense is an assault on ALL forms of firearms ownership and self-defense.
There is absolutely NO ROOM for complacency among ANY Second Amendment supporters. An attack on one is an attack on ALL…
ALL firearms laws are unconstitutional on their face. Imagine the hue and cry if “reasonable” restrictions were placed on First Amendment activities, especially with the “mainstream media”. The Second Amendment is clear–what part of “shall not be infringed” do politicians and the media not understand…of course, they understand full well…it’s part of their communist agenda…

Going to get nastier before it gets better. It’s now acceptable for lefties to use “NRA” as the same kind of hateful slur as the old racist words we can’t say anymore. Won’t be long and people will be denied jobs because they are gun owners, and that will be legal. Just like now if you say something negative about transgenders or gays, in some places that can cost you your job.

I figure one more mass shooting, then a bunch of those in Congress who now say they are 2nd Amendment supporters will flip. Trump probably will too. Quite possibly we’ll then see a big “assault weapons” ban.

Will we fight it or will we cave? I’ve got a couple of grandkids. I would like to fight, but I would also like to be around to see my grandkids grow up. Every one of us will have to make that decision.
