President Obama looking to further erode the 2nd Amendment
President Obama has wasted no time in the new year pushing his anti-gun agenda. As of the first day of the new year he put out a weekly address where he stated that he will meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss using the powers of the White House to push even more gun control down our throats.
Chicago a prime example
The President should look no further than Chicago to see how well gun control works with 2,986 shooting victims in 2015 according to the Chicago Tribune.
In his video he states that he has “unfinished business” with the “epidemic of gun violence” and that “Congress hasn’t done anything to prevent it”. Although he hasn’t explicitly said what his plans are, you can rest assured it will only further tie the hands of responsible gun owners.
Second highest number of background checks in 2015
From January to August 2015, 7.7 million firearm acquisition related checks have been made through the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Now this does not mean that these are all sales, others could be for the issuance of carry permits, but this gives you a small glimpse into the staggering number of gun related checks.
The only year that the numbers were higher was 2013, when President Obama made his initial push for gun control. What will the year 2016 look like with President Obama pushing for more gun control in his final year in office?
Harsher punishments for criminals
One solution to deter criminals from committing violent crimes with fire arms is to enact a harsher punishment. Instead of giving them plea bargains and dealing time reducing sentences to them for their violent crimes, there should be a swift and fitting punishment for them dealt in a timely manner.
When there is weak sentencing and in some cases even probation for committing these crimes, what is to deter them from happening in the first place? You don’t hear the President or anti-gun advocates screaming for that do you?
Exercise your 2nd Amendment right
We need to show this Presidency and others that are trying to limit the responsible and law-abiding citizens from defending ourselves and our loved ones that we will not have it. The best way to do this is to purchase a firearm, apply for the permit to carry, and exercise your rights by carrying daily.
Then call or write your state representatives and let them know that you do not support more gun control, and will not stand for it. Fight against illegal signage in your state and county, know your state and county laws and regulations regarding the purchase and carry of fire arms.
We need to do our due diligence as citizens and protect our God given rights.
Keep calm and carry on.
