Overland Park Shooting, One Dead, One Critical

 In Domestic

Tuesday morning at around 9 a.m. near Sunrise Elementary School in Overland Park, Kansas, a man shot two construction workers according to Fox4kc. One died at 2:46 p.m., the other remains in critical condition. No students or school personnel were at the school when the incident occurred. It appears to have been an argument between construction workers, all of whom work for the same company, that escalated. It is NOT a “school shooting.”

After the shooting the suspect carjacked a black GMC Denali. It was located at 10:47 a.m. at the home of the owner of the vehicle, although police do not know why it ended up there unless the suspect looked in the glove compartment. At 11:47, the suspect surrendered peacefully. It didn’t stay that way.

On the way to the county jail, the suspect attempted to escape from the police vehicle, according to MSN. Officers held him at “taser point” until backup arrived and he was subdued.

The Construction company was installing synthetic turf at the elementary playground when the incident occurred. It is unknown what the subject of the argument was.
