Oshkosh West High School Confrontation Between SRO and Armed Student

 In Domestic

In the second incident at a Wisconsin school in two days, an armed student confronted a School Resource Officer at Oshkosh West High School. Both were injured in the ensuing altercation and have been taken to the hospital. The school went into immediate lockdown.

“There has been an officer-involved shooting at Oshkosh West High School. The school has been locked down. Students are being evacuated and transported to Perry Tipler Middle School. Parents may reunite with their students at Tipler; identification is required. A student armed with a weapon confronted a school resource officer. The student and officer were both injured and transported to local hospitals. Only one student was injured. This incident is being turned over to the State Department of Criminal Investigation. There will be further information shared when it becomes available.” Oshkosh School District

The police officer was confronted by an armed student who brought a weapon to school, and the police officer fired his weapon. It is unclear why the officer was injured and transported to the hospital unless the student fired his weapon or stabbed at the officer as well. In this day and age, it follows that the SRO may have stopped the student from a serious incident. Their conditions are unknown at this point. The kind of weapon possessed by the student is unknown.

No other students were injured in the incident. The school was evacuated and students were taken to Perry Tipler Middle School for parent pickup.
