NFL Protests – Fans Angry, Sponsors Weary
ESPN made the decision not to show the National Anthem during NFL games, and then reversed its decision after the Las Vegas Shooting. Many networks are in the habit of not airing the Anthem and just showing the protests. But fans are becoming livid with the constant disrespect.
What are they protesting now? President Trump, they think, or maybe racism or some other wrong. Maybe they’re protesting making so much money? That would be nice, as the price of a beer at an NFL game is ridiculous, according to my husband, and parking prices are even worse.
Lack of respect
Each network has a different policy, which means that some show it some do not. Some show it sometimes and not others. the NFL itself has a “comprehensive policy” that no one is following. It’s a chaotic political correctness free-for-all.
Some sponsors are beginning to grow weary of the anger expressed by fans and are withdrawing their ads. Others are staying put and not budging from their money-making proposition. The Flemington Car and Truck Country company in New Jersey is one of those.
“The National Football League and its owners have shown their fans and marketing partners that they do not have a comprehensive policy to ensure that players stand and show respect for America and our flag during the playing of the national anthem. We have canceled all our NFL advertising on the Optimum and Infinity (cable) networks.” Steve Kalafer, owner of New Jersey-based Flemington Car and Truck Country
Let’s take the Seahawks game on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts: Nine members of the team chose to sit during the anthem. One fan sitting behind them has a daughter who is a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army- and he was not a happy camper.
“There are the a…holes that sat down. My girl is willing to give her life for the flag and these entitled millionaire NFL players disrespect!!! Something is wrong in this country! Had tickets with my boss booked a couple of months ago or wouldn’t be here! Very disappointed with NFL football right now!” Seahawks fan
According to deadline.com the Sunday night football ratings were down again about 5% from a week ago, and about 2% over all.
Keep boycotting, America, until someone gets a clue.
