New Orleans Shooting – 3 Dead, 7 Injured, Suspects At-Large

 In Domestic

In New Orleans on Saturday night, two gunmen walked up to a crowd near a strip mall about 3 miles from the French Quarter and opened fire. Both were wearing hoodies, one had a shotgun, and one a handgun. Both suspects fled the scene and are still at large. Three people are dead, 7 others injured.

Two men and one woman were shot to death in the incident. One survivor remains in critical condition, six others were said to have non-life-threatening injuries.

New Orleans has experienced shootings on a regular basis. Last year’s total of 157, the year before 175.  In 2016, the city enacted new gun control regulations that required citizens to report lost or stolen guns within 48 hours. But as of June, 2018 the city already had 79 homicides.

While one news outlet called last night’s incident a “drive-by,” the suspects were on foot and no vehicle was visible to witnesses. Police are asking anyone with information to call the New Orleans Police Department.

“A lot of people were out here tonight. A lot of people we know saw what happened, heard what happened. We need more than anything for people to come forward to help the NOPD solve this case by helping us find more evidence, find out who’s responsible for this so we can hold them accountable for the three people who have died out here tonight and for the other seven people who were injured.” Chief Michael Harrison to Fox8
