Navy Sailor Killed in Road Rage Incident
California – US Navy Chief Petty Officer Zachary Buob was a career Navy sailor who had been in the service for 20 years. He was active duty, and assigned to the Navy Special Warfare Command in San Diego. On Thursday, May 28, he was riding his motorcycle on I-5 near Chula Vista at around 5:30 pm, when 24 year old Darla Renee Jackson allegedly ran over him in a fit of road rage.
According to police, Buob was riding his red Ducati near Jackson’s black Nissan Altima, when he may have tapped her car in some manner. In the ensuing road rage situation, Jackson allegedly chased him down and rammed into the back of his motorcycle, then ran over the top of him.
Jackson is being held without bail in the Los Colinas women’s jail in Santee. Her arraignment is set for Tuesday. She is charged with murder.
It’s always someone else’s fault
Her mother “Margie”disputes the police account. “The motorcycle was trying to cut through some cars and for whatever reason he kicked the side of my daughter’s car…She went on to follow him trying to get information for the insurance and what have you.”
So when she followed him, that was when she decided to run over the 39 year old Naval officer? It’s all the motorcyclist’s fault he was killed? It would be nice if people took responsibility for their actions. Whether or not Chief Petty Officer Buob “kicked” the side of her car, he was not deserving of death.
Police are asking anyone with information on this incident or what led up to it to call California Highway Patrol traffic investigator Brad Clinkscales at 619-220-5492.
