Mueller has FBI raid Trump Lawyer’s Home Over Payments to Stormy Daniels
The FBI raided the residence of Michael Cohen, Trump’s lawyer, looking for evidence of payments to Stormy Daniels (at least that’s the current theory). The referral to conduct the raid came from Robert Mueller. In the military, they call this “mission creep.” The FBI allegedly seized private communications between Cohen and his client.
Robert Mueller was supposed to investigate charges of Russian collusion. Cohen has been under scrutiny for everything from bank fraud to now paying off Stormy Daniels to the tune of $130,000 (he claims with his personal funds). He is no stranger to controversy, and has been forced to apologize for losing his cool with allegations against his client. But it seems that the FBI has overstepped its bounds here in a big way.
The question I have is: who cares about an affair Trump had with a porn star 12 years ago? It was TWELVE years ago. Were there Russian spies listening in during the sex? Was Stormy Daniels (Alias Stefanie Clifford) also paid by the Russians? She is enjoying her time in the spotlight. But…always remember Karma.
The statement from Michael Cohen’s attorney Stephen Ryan reads:
LATEST UPDATE: April 9, 2018: Statement by Stephen M. Ryan
Today the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients. I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller.
The decision by the US Attorney’s Office in New York to conduct their investigation using search warrants is completely inappropriate and unnecessary. It resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney client communications between a lawyer and his clients. These government tactics are also wrong because Mr. Cohen has cooperated completely with all government entities, including providing thousands of non-privileged documents to the Congress and sitting for depositions under oath.
The New York Post reported,
The search does not appear to be directly related to Mueller’s investigation but likely resulted from information he had uncovered and gave to prosecutors in New York.
Yeah no kidding. But it’s not supposed to be “Mueller’s investigation.” It’s supposed to belong to the American people for the original stated purpose. It is no longer doing that, and hasn’t been for some time.
