Milwaukee Violence Illustrates Our Country Without God
Milwaukee violence is plaguing the city. Was it a terrorist attack? A mass shooting incident? A racial incident where an innocent victim was killed due to hate? No, none of the above. This latest outbreak was ignited by a traffic stop: a Black Police Officer pulled over a Black suspect.
Not just another night
As evidenced by the officer’s body cam, the suspect, Sylville Smith, pulled a gun on the officer. The officer told the suspect to put the gun down. The suspect refused. The suspect was shot twice. Normally this would be just another day in the life of a police officer in the urban environment of a major city in this country.
The match that ignited riots
As we see, this shooting was once again the match that ignited the powder keg of racial tension and hatred. At least with most of the other incidents involving police violence, like Michael Brown, or Freddie Grey, there was at least a small kernel of reality to spark the madness.
White cop shoots “innocent Black man.” “Black man killed while in custody of the police.” Some legitimacy there. I am not condoning the violence that ensued from these incidents in any way, just making a point.
Their own neighborhood
Now we have Milwaukee. Rioting, looting, burning, and destruction. For what? I’m still trying to get my head around this one. Again this is their own neighborhood. Their own businesses owned by members of their communities.
The sister of the slain suspect, Sherelle Smith, was caught on camera saying,
“Burning down sh*t ain’t gonna help nothin’,”
“You’re burnin’ down sh*t we need in our community.”
“Take that sh*t to the suburbs. Burn that sh*t down!”
“We need our sh*t! We need our weave! I don’t wear it, but we need it!”

A little background information will make this statement a whole lot clearer. The city of Milwaukee’s urban area is mostly Black. The suburbs mentioned in the statements above are mostly White. So, again we are seeing a racial issue being made out of a Black on Black shooting.
Whites are being targeted in the riot zones. There are reports of drivers being dragged from their cars and beaten. Why? What is it that being White has to do with this situation in the first place? Nothing!
Dependence on government, the perfect tools
This is just end result of what you get when you take a class of people and provide just enough for them to survive. Not enough to get ahead. Not enough to have a chance at the American dream. Force them to become dependent on the the system for their every need. Just enough for survival. Nothing more.
You create a person who hates. A person who resents anything that represents authority. A complete distrust of the government. Even though it is the government that they owe their very existence to. They are forced back to the baser instincts for survival. Survival of the fittest. Kill or be killed.
They are the perfect tool for the corrupt government to use wherever and whenever they so choose. They make a great diversion. Keep the minds of the people focused on something else while the government is busy doing something that they don’t want any undue attention on. It is a great way to take more control of areas of the country too.
Remember the line, “I’m from the government, I’m here to help?” Yeah, it’s not just a slogan it’s an SOP (standard operating procedure).
They are programmed
These people have no idea that they are just merely actors on a very large stage. They are being manipulated and controlled by politicians. These people will never see any gain for all their sacrifices. Ever. They will just be in the exact same place they were yesterday. The same place they will be tomorrow and the next day.
Until we can actually reach a point where humanity really matters, where issues are real and not just sound bites, these manufactured flash points will continue on and on. Politicians will continue to enrich themselves with power and money. The poor will continue to die for nothing and never achieve life.
We’ve allowed this to happen
This is the sad state where this country has arrived. We, as a Nation have sat back and watched this take place. Yes, we have been outraged. We’ve marched. We’ve waved our flags. Mostly, we’ve been quietly allowing our Nation to be taken from us one grain of sand at a time.
Every crisis our country has faced, our government has responded with a little more restriction of our freedoms. “It’s for our own good” they tell us. We believe them. We allow it. Just this once.
This isn’t new. It’s been happening throughout our history, right from the very start, probably before the ink was even dry on the Constitution. All nations of the world have had to deal with this problem. Most have failed. Some that survived are a mere shell of who they once were.
The crux of the matter
We started out with a simple concept and an idea: put God first. We stated this throughout our history and our documents. It’s on our monies. It’s ingrained in our rule of law. It’s the basis of our existence. Yet we continue to diminish God’s role in our country’s well being and guidance.
It doesn’t seem to be working out so well. God will only Bless this nation as a whole if asked. We have to want him to. He could heal this nation in the blink of an eye. We have to want it to happen. We have to invite God in.
As with all things, doing nothing is easy. Change is hard. It’s uncomfortable. It’s real. It’s what we need to have happen to change the direction in which we are headed.
