Michigan Bank Customer Shoots – Saves The Day
A would be bank robber in Warren, Michigan, encountered the unexpected Monday afternoon – a customer with a concealed carry weapon.
We’ve all seen it. Victory is within grasp, then they take their eye off the goal and in a split second imminent victory gives way to absolute failure.
According to Warren, Michigan Mayor Jim Fouts, the 43 year old bank robber entered the Citizens Bank near 9 mile and Van Dyke in Warren with a gun. Only the tellers and an autoworker bank customer were in the building when he pulled out his gun and announced the robbery. He successfully obtained a ‘large amount’ of cash and was headed out the door.
Never Mess With Old People
It was right there, he could see the door. But so was the 63 year old bank customer. According to witnesses, the robber, Henry Houston Mann,43, brandished his weapon at the 63 year old one too many times.
The autoworker had enough. He drew his weapon, fired, and hit the robber 3 times. With gunshot wounds in each arm and another in a leg, the robber made it out the door before collapsing.
Shante Jackson was across the street when she heard a bang. She looked up in time to see the robber collapse, dropping the money on the street. Jackson said,
“I was in a state of shock.”
Police arrived and handcuffed the bleeding man on the ground. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The stolen money was recovered at the scene.
The framers knew the importance of firearm ownership for protection and as a check against a tyrannical government. Including in the Bill of Rights,
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Article 1, Section 6, of the Michigan state constitution similarly states,
“Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state.”
Concerning concealed carry holder’s actions, Mayor Fouts told reporters,
“This citizen did have a 2nd Amendment right.”
Commenting on the gun toting citizen’s accuracy, Fouts noted he must have be a pretty good shot. Fouts said,
“I’m happy that no one was seriously injured. He apparently exercised some caution by not shooting the robber in a vital area.”
But Fouts added,
“I would caution people against using firearms unless absolutely necessary.”
Police are continuing to investigate and the citizen shooter is cooperating with the investigation. At this time there are no charges pending, nor planned against the citizen shooter.
Would be criminals take note: Old people have ALWAYS ‘Lived Through A War’. Even if it ended twenty years before they were born, they still Lived Through The War. Guaranteed, they are tough.
It’s just not wise to mess with tough people. If you are ever foolish enough to challenge them, you will learn a valuable lesson. When push comes to shove, old people have a lot less to live for.
For most ‘seasoned citizens’, running is not an option. They’ll just shoot you dead.
