A Miami Club, the SWAT Team, 10-12 Hostages, and a Stolen Cellphone

 In Breaking News, Domestic

A Miami Club is at the center of a hostage situation Monday afternoon. A patron of Joseph’s Club in the “Little Havana” district of Miami was standing outside advising police that someone stole her cellphone on Monday. About 30 minutes into her report, another female came out of the bar/restaurant club and advised police that bar management was holding employees and patrons hostage.

“She was waiting outside talking to officers when a second female walks out of the business and says management is holding everybody hostage inside. Approximately 10-12 people…We’re just trying to negotiate and see what’s going on inside and come to a peaceful resolution.” Miami Public Information Officer

It’s a bizarre situation.

Miami PD responded, along with SWAT, who breached the door to the bar at around 4 p.m. and set up lines of communication. It was reported that the bar manager was not answering the phone, and it was unclear if the hostage-taker was armed. Police were attempting to end the stand-off peacefully, but without having any idea why it happened in the first place that’s tough.

Two area schools, Citrus Grove Elementary and Citrus Grove Jr High, were placed on lockdown as a precaution, but later resumed normal operation.
