Massachusetts Trump Supporter, Military Veteran Attacked

 In Politics

A Massachusetts Trump supporter, USAF veteran named Charlie Chase was violently attacked on Tuesday as he stood on the grass near North Main Street and Airport Road in Fall River. Charlie is a retired teacher who now distributes a Conservative newspaper, and collects signatures for Republican candidates.

The suspect was identified as Aidan Courtright, 27. He turned himself in after being contacted by authorities. The incident unfolded as the Massachusetts Trump supporter was standing with a Trump sign and wearing a MAGA hat. Suddenly Courtright, who was driving by, slammed on his brakes, exited his vehicle and demanded,  “Give me the f****** sign!”

What happened next was horrifying for the 82 year old Massachusetts Trump supporter.

“The guy, when he came at me, I had never seen a horror story … that the face was so filled with hate and anger, as his was…According to the other fella that was with me, I didn’t know that [the suspect] had lifted me up, but he apparently lifted me up and flung me down on my back to the ground.” Charlie Chase

It’s alledged that Courtright grabbed the Trump sign, tore it in half, and threw it on the ground. He then proceeded to kick Mr. Chase in the ribs and legs, and finally got back in his car and drove off. Charlie Chase had visible bruising on his lower back and was treated at the local hospital.

Courtright has been charged with “a civil-rights violation with injury, assault and battery on a person over 60, vandalism of personal property, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.” (Fox) His next court appearance is August 6.

Donald Trump Jr heard about the incident and posted on Friday:

“Awful.

An 82 year old wearing a Trump hat was attacked by a leftwing nut job in Massachusetts. All political violence is wrong, but what kind of person commits violence against an elderly man?

If anyone has contact info for the victim please send my way.”

Chase was asked to be a guest on WBSM’s Howie Carr Show. During the show, he recounted what happened to him, and a call came in from Donald Trump Jr. The exchange was very emotional for Mr. Chase.

WBSM wrote:

“I just wanted to say I saw your story, and we’re sorry you had to go through that,” Trump told Chase. “We really appreciate the support and stuff like that shouldn’t be going on in America. I just wanted to say thank you for that support, thank you for your steadfast loyalty, for your service to our country. It means the world to us.”

“I have to thank you guys,” Chase replied, audibly becoming choked up with emotion. “You don’t know how much you mean to us. Thank you.”

Charlie Chase says no one should be targeted for their political beliefs.  Conversation is better than violence.

“If you’ve got something, listen to what they’re saying, figure out whether you agree you don’t agree — ‘Ah some of that’s good, maybe I should change some of the things I think’. That’s the American way.” Charlie Chase

    As a USMC Veteran
I’ll politely say this is the kind of person who needs to be taught a lesson by beating him into a coma….

Way to protect and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Go research this. There are a lot of inconsistencies. If he’s guilty, let the court do its job. If he’s innocent, I bet the world of hate bait won’t apologize.
