Marine Corps Band “Heckled” at Nova Scotia Tattoo Event?
The 2nd Marine Division band out of Camp, Lejeune, North Carolina performed at the Nova Scotia Tattoo event at Grand Parade Square in Halifax on June 27. When they went outside the performance building to take a group photo, protesters against the US Immigration policy shouted them down and booed them, preventing the photo, according to the Marine Corps Times.
“The band went outside to take a group picture and at same time approximately 10 protesters were beginning to assemble. Once the protesters engaged them, the band respectfully returned to the performance building.” USMC spokesperson
The Marine Corps downplayed the incident, as did one outlet that claimed the Marine Band wasn’t supposed to play at the event at all and specifically not “ouside.” This tweet puts a crimp in that narrative, as they did play. Outside.

HalifaxToday reported that the Mayor of Halifax didn’t think an apology was necessary, but he met with the US Consulate General to explain that the incident was not “representative of Halifax.”
“Whatever we think of the policies of other governments, we shouldn’t take it out on people who are here from that country.” Halifax Mayor Michael Savage
We fully understand that creating outrage over this incident would be unproductive, given the angst Canada has been having with the US over tariffs, immigration, etc. The issue is really that a history lesson needs to be revealed to Canadians who protest just as it does with American leftists: Without the Marine Corps and the US military, there wouldn’t be a Canada OR a United States.

#nspoli Those NS that booed the US Marine Corps Band are no better than the current US leadership creating such hate & discontent in the world. Our family apologizes to our US friends & the proud Marine Corps for this shameful display by a few bigots, we unfortunately also have.

As promised I am already retweeting this. Because I want to add something. Private American citizens are welcomed and treated with respect and friendship here. Any organization representing the US government will NOT BE.https://t.co/eLXEMYK4Pl

So the Tattoo is gloriously insane as predicted.
Weirdest moment (so far): the US Marine Corps band playing the Imperial March. Are they telling us something?
They followed it up with circus music – serious subtweeting, I think.
