Kirsten Gillibrand Drops Out of Presidential Race

 In Politics

The 2020 Democrat field is slowly dwindling. John Hickenlooper, Jay Inslee, Seth Moulton, have already left the field. Now Kirsten Gillibrand drops out. Just a few days ago she made some statements about what she was going to do with gun control that makes her leaving the race a joyous occasion for some of us. Except that she’s open to becoming a vice presidential candidate.

“Today, I am ending my campaign for president. I am so proud of this team and all we’ve accomplished. But I think it’s important to know how you can best serve. To our supporters: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Now, let’s go beat Donald Trump and win back the Senate.” Kirsten Gillibrand

Fox noted:

Ten candidates have already qualified to make the stage for the third and fourth debates. They are former Vice President Joe Biden; Booker of New Jersey; South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg; former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro; Harris; Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; former Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas; Senators Sanders and Warren; and tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

They may be dwindling due to lack of enough funds to continue according to DNC rules. Gillibrand faced concerns from her own camp that she should get out. But as the rules tightened up for the debates, so has the field tightened. Tulsi Gabbard didn’t make it to the stage even though Kamala Harris took a dive in the polls after the last debate.
