Davie, Florida – Keith Byrne, 41, was a US Marine veteran. He accidentally cut off a BMW while approaching a traffic signal on June 7. He rolled down his window in an effort to apologize to the driver of the BMW. Seconds later, the passenger in the BMW walked up to his truck and shot him in the chest ashe sat in his truck. He returned fire. Now both of them are dead. (Reported by wsvn)

The incident occurred at around 2 p.m. on June 7 at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Southwest Eighth Street  in Davie. Keith Byrne was driving his work truck and accidentally cut off a BMW driven by a female.

Byrne attempted to apologize. But the passenger, Andre Sinclair, 22, had no intention of receiving an apology. His girlfriend grabbed his shirt to try and prevent him from exiting the BMW. It didn’t work. (This article has been corrected from information received form the family).

Andre Sinclair would have been charged with murder had he survived- screenshot-

“At that point, the driver, Mr. Sinclair’s girlfriend, had grabbed him by the shirt, tried to prevent him from getting out of the vehicle. He did get out armed with a gun and went towards the work truck… Mr. Byrne was acting in self defense when he ultimately fired back.” Davie Police Lieutenant Mark Leone

Sinclair walked up to the truck, and as Byrne tried to say, “My bad,” he opened fire, shooting Byrne in the chest. Byrne was able to return fire, striking Sinclair twice. Byrne died at the scene, Sinclair died in the hospital two days later.

Both men were legal carriers. Sinclair’s girlfriend and their 19 month old child were not injured. Police found Keith Byrne deceased in his truck. Sinclair was lying on the pavement.

Keith’s family is trying to make sense of a senseless situation. A special Facebook group was created by his cousin for those who knew him. Perusing through it revealed that during his USMC service, he was known as “Byrney Mac.” He was remembered as a fun loving person who deeply loved his children, two daughters, 19 and 17 and a son.

“It’s not worth it. It’s not worth getting in any type of altercation, getting angry over insignificant things.” Justyn Byrne, Keith’s 21 year old son

He will be buried with full military honors at the Lake Worth National Cemetery on June 28, 2019. There is a GoFundMe set up for the family at this link.

Keith was a solid guy. His wife and my wife became best friends at Lejune and they still are. He will be missed. SFMF
