Jihadi Targets Police Officers in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

According to Penn Live, Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty went on a shooting spree at around 4 p.m. on Friday in Harrisburg, PA. He targeted police officers – shooting first at a Capitol Police officer, then a Pennsylvania State police officer nearby, and finally he exchanged gunfire with Harrisburg officers and PA state Police, who returned fire and killed him.

The Capitol officer was not injured; the female PSP trooper was struck by one of the bullets, but is expected to fully recover. According to local media, El-Mofty chased the trooper into the Allison Hill area. With two handguns blazing he engaged Harrisburg and State Police officers in the area. They “neutralized” the threat.

El-Mofty had recently returned from the Middle East. While they’re not actually “ruling out” terrorism as a motive, they aren’t being specific about it either. It should be blatantly obvious, but we’re just the peons.

A suspicious device was found near the suspect’s body, but the bomb squad  stated it was of “no import.”

ABC reported,

[District Attorney Ed] “Marsico says that the FBI is also assisting in the investigation to help determine if this was a planned act of terrorism. Marsico was asked if the shooting was related to the recent sentencing of Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz who was convicted of help ISIS.

“We can’t comment on that at this time,” said Marsico. “But the investigation will continue and it will be thorough.”

When a PennLive reporter went to one of the suspect’s listed addresses, a woman in a hijab answered the door and told him to leave. When he spoke to a neighbor to see if he recognized El-Mofty, he said that, “There’s so many guys coming in and out it’s impossible to say.” The house El-Mofty once lived in was raided by immigration last year, according to neighbors.
