It’s Just ‘Reparations’: a $2,700 Looted Sweater, the Demand to Steal

 In opinion, Politics

A Chicago man, Melvin Banks, 29, was arrested after posting an ad for a $2,700 sweater that was looted from an upscale Chicago boutique on August 10. The ad was posted on OfferUp.  An employee of the boutique noticed it online and notified police. But no worries, BLM says it’s just reparations and the store has insurance.

Undercover officers talked with Banks and agreed to buy the sweater for $800. When they met up with him, he was arrested. Must have been some sweater.  A woman was charged when she tried to sell a $1,400 pair of boots for $1,100, also from looted August 10.  The looting spree had its proponents in the BLM movement.

“That is reparations. Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance. They’re going to get their money back. My people aren’t getting anything. People protest however they need to. People do whatever they need. These businesses have insurance. They can get it all back. We can’t get our lives back once they kill us. We can’t get rid of that trauma once you’ve been attacked by a police officer,” Ariel Atkins, a Black Lives Matter Chicago organizer

Then there’s the BLM leader Hawk Newsome, who didn’t answer any of the questions posed to him in a normal fashion during an interview with Martha McCallum about looting.  He sidestepped them all and turned the conversation away from the question. He defended looting by saying that anyone criticizing it was defending white supremacy.

“The problem with oppression and White supremacy is, White supremacy will have you criticizing the oppressed and worshiping the oppressors. Now, if you want to talk to me about reparations, nothing falls short of a solution other than people cutting a check. If you want to do something about reparations, cut the check.

And we’re not talking about going in everyday Americans’ pockets. We’re talking about banks like Brown Brothers Harriman, who benefited from slavery. Other insurance companies that sold insurance policies on slaves. We’re talking about the American government that was founded on the backs of slaves.” Hawk Newsome, Chair of BLM New York (Fox News)

As usual, these so-called “activists” believe that everything is someone else’s fault and they have the right to destroy it.

Give me your home! Is this reparations too?

In Seattle on August 13, BLM marched through a residential neighborhood and demanded residents give up their homes.

“Give black people back their homes!…You’re sitting there comfortably — comfortable as f*** as if they didn’t help gentrify this neighborhood! I used to live in this neighborhood, and my family was pushed out, and you’re sitting up there having a good time with your other white friends!”

Since Black Lives Matter is now targeting residential areas, things could become intolerable both for them and the residents. Someone at some point is going to get hurt. Later, one business owner called police about someone smashing a window.

As police took the perpetrator of the vandalism into custody, the crowd became irate and screamed obscenities at them.

Seattle has a history in its past of racial discrimination. North Seattle is predominantely White. South Seattle is mixed – mostly Black and Asian. According to KUOW, it was once legal to ban Blacks from a neighborhood, so most Blacks were shoved into the Central District.  It hasn’t been legal since the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but the Central District is now where many Blacks were “pushed out” due to practices that perpetuated the problem of segregated housing. The houses in that district had become run down and crime was rampant. The Central District is now only about 14% Black, according to the article.

What’s done is done. You cannot unscramble scrambled eggs. And adding that Marxist “flavor” to them is a recipe for danger. Beware of the new demand for “reparations,” coming to a neighborhood near you.
