Is a British Tourist Dead Because He Resisted a Robber?

San Francisco, California – A British Tourist was stabbed in the head on February 18, but died Thursday  from his wounds after spending over a month in critical condition. Paul Tam and his niece were walking down the street when he was attacked at around 8:30 p.m.. He held on to his messenger bag during the assault, as one of the robbers repeatedly stabbed him.

Note also in the video that two cars drive by him as he was being attacked and after. Neither got out to help him. Welcome to San Francisco.

Police released this security video on Friday, and asked for the public’s help in identifying the assailant(s).

There were two suspects, but only one is visible on the video. The suspect chased Paul Tam into the street, pushing him down and stabbing him on order to get his bag. Tam clearly resisted the attacker.  His niece was not injured in the attack.

The San Francisco Police are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that results in an arrest of the suspects. They are now investigating it as a homicide.

People.com reported anyone with information about the homicide is encouraged to contact investigators at 415-553-1145, anonymously at the SFPD Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or via text by sending a message with “SFPD” at the start to to TIP411.

Is he dead because he resisted?

Liberals strongly believe that you should never resist if a robber tries to get your property. But it depends – what are they armed with? Are you armed? Are they bigger than you  and do you have the skills necessary to take them down?

San Francisco media, liberal heaven, has made a point of saying that Tam held on to his bag and resisted. As if it is somehow it was his own fault for being stabbed. But that is a faulty assumption.

Would Paul Tam be alive today if he had just allowed the man to take his bag?

It’s a question no one can answer. If the man only wanted his bag and didn’t want to kill anyone, maybe he’d be alive. But in many cases, the guy with the weapon is going to use it whether you resist or not. Adrenaline is running through their veins and the victim’s – the flight or fight instinct kicks in for both.
