International Quds Day- Heads up

 In Foreign

International Quds Day is the last Friday in Ramadan, and has been held since 1979, during the Iranian Revolution. It is expressly to show support for “Palestinians.” This year it is to be held on Friday, May 31 and includes the annual “March of Return.” But this isn’t a normal year.

Al-Quds is the Arabic word for Jerusalem.

This year, President Trump was set to release the “Deal of the Century”- a peace proposal for the Middle East in June. And it’s one that the Palestinians and Iran have already denounced and rejected before they’ve even seen it. Iran has warned that any “peace plan” from the “Zionist regime” (that’s us, by the way) will lead to a massive “intifada.”

Intifada is an Arabic word literally meaning, as a noun, “tremor”, “shivering”, “shuddering”, or stabbing, killing, intimidation, attempts to make people afraid…all of that.

Last year’s “Grand March of Return” in March yielded horrific riots and attacks along the border of Israel and Gaza that lasted several days.

Alerts USA warning texted to subscribers read in part:

An interesting aspect to Quds Day demonstrations in
Western Europe, Canada and the U.S. are the number of
yellow and green flags present representing the foreign
terrorist organization Hezbollah.
Given the increasing tempo of antisemitic attacks in the U.S.

and Europe, as well as the recent recognition of Jerusalem
as the capital of Israel through the move of the U.S. Embassy

to the city, these demonstrations should be avoided. Caution
and vigilance are urged.

The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center reported about IRGC spokesman Ramazan Sharif rejecting anything about the peace deal.

A few days prior, Ramazan Sharif assailed President Trump’s “deal of the century”, describing it as an American attempt to force the Palestinians to give up their values. In his speech, which preceded the Friday sermon in Tehran on May 24, Sharif proclaimed that President Trump must know that he can not force the Palestinian people and the Islamic ummah to renege on their support for Palestinian cause through the “deal of the century,” the transfer of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

He argued that the “deal of the century” attempts to eradicate Palestinian aspirations, attempts that have failed over the past 70 years. He added that Iran supported the liberation of Palestine since the first days of the Islamic Revolution and assisted the Palestinians in their struggle to return to their ancestral lands (ISNA, May 24, 2019).

Ahead of Quds Day, 252 Iranian majlis members published a statement, expressing their support for the “Palestinian Resistance” and called on Iranian citizens to participate in marches that day. The majlis members emphasized in the statement their opposition to the peace plan of President Trump and declared that the U.S. must know that the “deal of the century,” the move of the embassy to Jerusalem, the recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan and the listing of the IRGC as a terrorist group are failed attempts, which will join the dozens of previous failed plans by the United States concerning Palestine.

The statement added that Saudi Arabia and other countries, including the UAE and Bahrain, need to know that establishing friendly relations with the “Zionist regime” casts “eternal shame” upon them, is clearly contrary to God’s edict and will inflame the hatred of the entire Islamic ummah against them. The “Zionist regime” must know that the countdown to its elimination has begun, and that its fate is destruction.

The Resistance Front is stronger today that it has ever been in the past, the members of parliament argued. The majlis members emphasized Iran’s role under the leadership of Ali Khamenei in resisting the “plots” of the United States, the “Zionist regime” and its regional allies, chief among them being Saudi Arabia (Mehr, May 26, 2019).

All in all, tomorrow could become dicey in various cities across the world. London’s march is set for June 2. There is usually one in DC, and of course several demonstrations in Israel.

The point of this is: keep your wits about you. “International Quds Day” will be celebrated with marches in various parts of the world tomorrow.
