A crack in the followup?

Hamid Mohamed Ali Rehaif, 25, entered the country legally in 2013 on a student visa, but then was “terminated” from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne a year later. He should have immediately gone back home. He did not, hence “illegal alien.”

Apparently no one bothers to check those things out for some significant length of time? When the school terminated him, the feds should have been notified. Did the school contact authorities? Or in the politically correct world we live in were they trying to keep from violating his “civil rights.” Did the Feds drop that ball? Inquiring minds want to know.

Living large

Rehaif has been living in his hotel room, paying rent for more than the last two months to the tune of $11,000 in cash. He was in Melbourne, Florida, same city as his school. He didn’t go very far, so he should have been easy to track.

Breitbart reported,

This week authorities caught up with Rehaif at his hotel in Melbourne Florida where they found handgun and rifle ammunition in his room and in a storage unit that he had been renting. The Middle Eastern man admitted to authorities that he had possessed weapons and he had practiced with them at local firing ranges but he recently got rid of them.

He is charged with being an illegal alien in possession of ammunition. He is being held in Federal Custody until his appearance before Federal court on Monday in Orlando.

He admitted to having weapons at one point. Where did those weapons go? Who obtained them for him? The investigation is likely ongoing, but there are a lot of cracks in this mess. We just hope no innocent lives will be lost from someone not paying attention.
