Harris County Judge Allows Armed Robber Out on $0 Bail (Twice) – Police Chief Calls him Out

 In Domestic

Texas: The first issue with Harris County Judge Chris Morton is that he let an armed robber loose in the community and the man robbed again. The second issue is that the armed robber, Ja’Kouri Jones, 18, robbed more stores at gunpoint and the judge once again let him out with no bail. Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger  is not happy about it, according to Blue Lives Matter.

But, but the man was given an ankle monitor and told he could only go to medical appointments, court, or his attorney’s office, says his attorney. Ok, sure. Let’s see how that works out for you.

Jones is charged with numerous armed robberies in Pasadena, Texas.

“Although Jones faces the possibility of ‘multiple life sentences,’ Harris County 230th Criminal Court Judge Chris Morton released him again on his own recognizance…Our officers worked diligently to capture this suspect, endangering their own lives…It’s disappointing that you have a defendant charged with multiple violent felonies, including armed robbery and shooting at witnesses, that’s allowed to walk out of the front doors of the jail with just his signature [to assure] that he’ll appear in court again.” Chief  Bruegger

KTRK reported,

Jakouri Jones, 18, was able to exchange jail time for his signature after posting bond for allegedly robbing four pharmacies with a weapon in a matter of weeks.

This past month, Pasadena police released surveillance video showing officers running over Jones after he pointed a gun at them while trying to run away.

Running “over” is a bit much, “into” is more accurate.

You can watch that incident here:

The suspect has allegedly fired his gun during the robberies, and it’s been fortunate that he hasn’t hit anyone yet. The Harris County Prosecutor asked for a high bond to prevent the 18 year old from being able to leave custody. Both times it was denied by the judge.
