Gunman Opens Fire on Congressional Members in DC

Alexandria, Virginia – At 7:15 a.m., GOP Congressional members were practicing for a bipartisan baseball game at the local YMCA Wednesday morning, when a gunman opened fire on the field at the second base area. House Majority Whip, Steve Scalise, was struck in the hip, and is expected to recover. A total of 5 people were transported to the hospital. The gunman was shot by police, initial reports say he was killed, but other reports say he is in custody.

According to witnesses, the gunman approached the group and asked who was on the field- Democrats or Republicans. Witnesses also said he was carrying a rifle.

The shooting occurred in the Del Ray neighborhood which is south of the Pentagon. We will update this story when more information is available.
