Girlfriend of Philando Castile Arrested in Hammer Attack
Minnesota – Diamond Reynolds was the girlfriend of Philando Castile, the man who was shot by police on July 9, and she calmly live streamed his death over Facebook. We previously reported it here. But now, she and two other women are being held for attacking another woman with a hammer in a dispute over the victim’s friend.
Just a grieving woman…with a hammer
Police were notified of an assault in progress at around 10:30.a.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived, they found the 24 year old victim covered in blood. She was transported to the hospital.
She told police she had been driving along and noticed an SUV make a u-turn and follow her. When she parked and got out of her, vehicle someone yelled at her.
According to Pioneer Press,
The woman looked up and saw Reynolds and another woman, later identified as 28-year-old Chnika Blair, coming at her. Reynolds ran up and punched her in the head with a closed fist, while Blair grabbed her hair, according to the complaint.
At one point, Reynolds hit her in the head with a hammer, knocking her to the ground and continued to strike her in the head with the hammer when she was on the ground, the complaint continued. The woman said she “blacked out for a moment” and then saw Reynolds striking her vehicle’s windshield, which broke.
Another vehicle pulled up and a woman she knew as Dyamond Richardson, 25, got out, chased her down and sprayed bear repellent at her, according to the complaint. The suspects then left in two vehicles with seven or eight people between them.
Diamond Reynolds, Dyamond Richardson, and Cnika Blair were arrested for the crime. Reynolds is charged with Felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and third-degree assault – inflicting substantial bodily harm. The other two are charged with aiding and abetting second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and aiding and abetting third-degree assault – inflicting substantial bodily harm.
The entire incident is over an altercation with the victim’s friend -“Y.G.” whom police said they had been “fighting” with previously. So now it’s ok to beat a person with a hammer because of a beef you’ve got with their friend?
The victim has severe head injuries. Diamond has played up her “grief” over Philando Castile’s death to make it sound like she’s got lots of “traumatic” memories and has been “unable to find a job.” She calmly live-streamed his death with no emotion – could she be a sociopath?
The officer who shot her boyfriend faces manslaughter charges and has lost his job already.
