Two police officers were shot in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Friday night, according to cbslocal. The officers responded to a report of a man breaking bottles in the middle of the street at around 5:35 p.m.. He also apparently was yelling at a woman inside a car. When they arrived and confronted the man, he retrieved a gun and shot them both. Officers returned fire, shooting the suspect four times. Both officers are going to be OK. The Department dodged a major tragedy.

The suspect was identified as Malik Koval, 21.

One officer was grazed in the head and released from the hospital, the other was struck in the vest, and just above the vest in the chest. He remains hospitalized, but the injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Officers Donald DeMiranda and Ryan Moore will both recover.

All three, two officers and suspect were taken to the hospital for treatment. All are expected to survive.

Massachusetts State police sent teams to assist Falmouth PD, as did the ATF.

Koval’s family said they didn’t see this coming. But he is “known to police” and had a previous arrest.
