Douglas, Georgia – Woman Steals $40 from 94 Year Old Navy Veteran

 In Veterans

Douglas, Georgia – Thomas Hendrix is a 94 year old Navy Veteran who resides with a caretaker, Neal DeLoach. While the caretaker was gone on Monday, June 25, at around 3 p.m., a woman, her two children and an unidentified male came into his caretaker’s home. It is unclear why Hendrix let them in, because his caretaker stated that they did not know the people. While they were in the house, the woman rifled through Mr. Hendrix’ wallets and took $40.

WALB reported,

“Thomas Hendrix led two children and a man into another part of his home.

From surveillance video, you can hear the woman saying she is going to use the restroom.
Then she starts to walk back and forth in the home, then finds his wallet and starts to go through it.

Police said she stole $40 dollars out of Hendrix’s wallet.

She then stuffs that money into her dress and goes back into the restroom to flush the toilet.”

When police posted the surveillance video on Facebook, the perpetrator commented on the post. (I know, brilliant).

It would have been nice if Ms Weldon had gone to school to take English instead of steal money from a 94 year old navy veteran.

Caretaker Neal DeLoach, told news media,

“Well, first of all, I didn’t know who they were. I was kind of panicking. I knew Mr. Hendrix didn’t know them. It kind of scared me that I’ve got security cameras all over the property that you can see and they still came right in and you know, very brave. And that’s what scares me about the whole situation, people are just brave.”

It’s not “brave,” Mr. DeLoach. It’s brazen.

Mr Hendrix is not only a Navy veteran, he worked at AT&T for many years.

Weldon faced a charge of  misdemeanor theft, and WALB reported that police were obtaining an arrest warrant. However,  by June 27, Mr. DeLoach hadn’t heard anything about the situation and was posting frantic tweets.
