Democracy Alliance Seeks Party Platform that Includes Reparations, Free College, and Medicare for All

 In Politics

A news item in the Free Beacon and on Breitbart stated that the Democracy Alliance (a wealthy Democrat donor group) held an event that “excitedly” planned ahead to 2020 and 2022 for new issues to place on the party platform. Never say that the Dems can’t move any further left. They actually appear to be headed right off that cliff.

The “Way to Win: 2022 Victory Party” was held last Monday, and attended by a plethora of left wing Dems like former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, and DNC chairman Tom Perez, and their keynote speaker, Georgia Gubernatorial Candidate Stacey Abrams, as well as other members of the DNC (that the Free Beacon couldn’t get to comment).  Their celebration is premature, but let’s have a look.

The invitation states:

“It’s 2022 and we are celebrating policy victories across the nation: Medicare for All and Free College, and next on the agenda is Reparations.

Because we’re governing with gusto, we’re seeing victories up and down the ballot—including winning a governorship in Texas and putting 38 electoral votes in grasp by 2024.

Stop in 2020 and 2019 when local power builders turned Arizona and Florida solidly blue and established Virginia as a progressive governance juggernaut.”

The dream of completely redirecting the United States to their leftist agenda is just that: a dream.  The event that we could easily bill as the “Democrat Dreamers” was sponsored by numerous left wing groups, according to the Free Beacon:

“Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the Collective PAC—a collection of entities with a mission to build “black political power”—and the Women Donors Action Network, which seeks to leverage the power of progressive women donors.

The Solidaire Network, a group of wealthy liberal donors who foster protest and direct action, was also involved with the event. The Solidaire Network joined forces with two other liberal groups to form a “resistance” fund that combats “immediate threats” to “immigrants, women, Muslim and Arab-American communities, black people, LGBTQ communities, and all people of color” and push back against Republicans.

The Center for Popular Democracy, a New York-based progressive advocacy group, was also a cohost. The Center for Popular Democracy’s sister organization, the Center for Popular Democracy Action Fund, leads a massive $80 million anti-Trump network that spans across 32 states.”

But let’s go back to their plans. Reparations has been nothing more than a talking point up until now. Is it wise for them to include it in their actual platform? No. Not even Mr. Left-Wing Socialist Bernie Sanders has endorsed the idea. Even their keynote speaker has been largely silent on the matter.

Neither would it be wise to include a “Medicare for all” Universal Healthcare issue- the last one was a huge disaster and cost Americans millions. And unfortunately, it’s still largely in place. Our memories aren’t that far gone.

Free college for all? Not.  The government isn’t a cash cow, nor a vending machine for liberals, but they appear to think it is. Taxpayers have enough trouble with the money they fork over now, let alone if it increased that much. And who fits into their definition for “all” – we have a suspicion there would be caveats in that idea.

Democrats have a giant problem with understanding priorities. Theirs are so far removed from the rest of us that it’s absolutely frightening. Hard work, personal responsibility, those are anathema to the left. So keep an eye on the Democrat Party – they have plans for the future.
