California in the Crosshairs – “Sanctuary State” May Backfire

 In opinion, Politics

Five prank signs were put up on California highways north of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Primm, Nevada & Highway 95. The signs were attached to the standard “Welcome to California signs” and read: “OFFICIAL SANCTUARY STATE, Felons, Illegals and MS13 Welcome! Democrats Need The Votes!” While the signs were entertaining and humorous, and were taken down, California is about to enter the crosshairs of everyone from smugglers to ICE.

Governor Brown apparently feels sorry for the illegals in his state. When he signed the bill he stated:

“These are uncertain times for undocumented Californians and their families, and this bill strikes a balance that will protect public safety, while bringing a measure of comfort to those families who are now living in fear everyday.”

The California law specifically prohibits local officials from asking about an individual’s immigration status or working with federal immigration agents on cases. And the Governor said that it doesn’t prevent ICE from doing their jobs. Others beg to differ.

“If [Brown] thinks he is protecting the community, he’s doing quite the opposite. [Brown] is knowingly putting law enforcement at risk. There’s no sanctuary from law enforcement. California better hold on tight – they’re about to see a lot more deportation officers. If politicians don’t protect their communities then ICE will.” Thomas Homan, Acting Director, Immigration and Customs Enforcement to Fox Insider, Jan 2, 2018

Homan stated that “rank and file” law enforcement strongly disagreed with the law, but nobody asked them prior to implementation. He believes that Coyotes (people smugglers) will use the law as a “selling point.” He also stated that Brown “bit off more than he can chew.” He mentioned he’d like to see if Brown could be charged criminally for the law under 8 U.S. Code § 1324– Harboring illegal aliens.

If a dramatic increase in illegals entering California occurs, their already failing economy will totally tank. Giving away other people’s money can only go so far before a) rebellion or b) complete collapse.
