Calif Dems Refuse to Endorse Feinstein, Reject Party Establishment
Dianne Feinstein was the face of the California Democrat party’s establishment for a long time. But Calif Dems have now chosen to endorse someone else for her Senate seat, someone with illegal family members, and who appointed the state’s first illegal to a state office: State Senator Kevin de Leon. He received nearly 65% of the delegates’ vote, Feinstein only 22%. The rest voted for “no endorsement.”
“Today’s vote is a clear-eyed rejection of politics as usual in Washington, D.C.. We have presented Californians with the first real alternative to the worn-out Washington playbook in a quarter-century.” Kevin de Leon
While we have come to expect California to be leftist, moving away from liberal Dianne Feinstein in favor of a full on radical candidate could spell doom for them in November. While activists within the party are vocally left wing, the entire party at large is liberal, but not completely radical.
Feinstein sent a letter to the delegates before the vote, urging them toward neutrality. The party had refused to endorse her back in February, but did not endorse de Leon at that time. The letter was ignored by all but a handful of delegates.
Don’t count her out in the election, as she does have a huge following and lots of money.

California Democrats’ state party’s executive committee threw Sen. Dianne Feinstein overboard on Saturday, choosing to endorse state Sen. Kevin de Leon in the general election. I guess 40 years of being a mainstream liberal wasn’t enough for them. https://t.co/CFSireigyH #CAsen pic.twitter.com/iCQW3jtwcM
